Superslide
Discovered by FierceLinkMaster
Trick Description
The superslide is one of the fastest forms of travel, equal in speed to Goron spike roll and HESS. Superslides are executed differently from HESSes (see below) and are functionally different in that it is impossible to change direction during a superslide unless you convert to an ESS, whereas HESSes can change direction. Superslides can be used to go up some slopes that you normally cannot climb and clip out of bounds in some spots.
How To
Bombs
- Put down a bomb and stand just far enough away so the A icon doesn't say grab.
- Hold Z and R, then slightly before the bomb explodes, press A to roll forward, still holding Z and R.
- Press A as soon as the grab icon appears. If timed well, the explosion should hit link's shield and he should slide backwards.
- Release R when you want to end the superslide. You don't need to keep holding Z.
Backwalk Superslide with Bombs
- Start backwalking and pull out a bomb.
- Slightly before the bomb explodes, hold R to drop it, but continue to backwalk for a short while longer.
- Once you get far enough from the bomb, stop backwalking and roll towards the bomb while still holding Z and R.
- Press A as soon as the grab icon appears.
- Release R when you want to end the superslide. You don't need to keep holding Z.
Note: If you attempt the trick but store a ground jump instead then it means you grabbed the bomb or rolled too early. If you didn't get a ground jump or a superslide then it means you grabbed the bomb or rolled too late. Both of these cases are shown in the following video:
Bombchus
- Stand just far enough away from a grabbable object so that it doesn't say grab.
- Pull out a bombchu.
- Hold Z.
- Press and hold R, then roll towards the grabbable object.
- Press A when the grab icon appears.
- Release R when you want to end the superslide. You don't need to keep holding Z.
Enemy Damage
- With an enemy near a grabbable object, stand just far enough away from the grab-able object so it doesn't say grab.
- Hold Z and R and roll towards the grabbable object
- Press A as soon as the grab icon appears
- Have the enemy hit you before you stand up
- Release R when you want to end the superslide. You don't need to keep holding Z
Quickslide
- Take out a bomb and backwalk away from it until you're out of "Grab" range.
- Take out a bombchu and begin to walk forward for just a little bit.
- Quickly shield drop the bombchu and roll.
- Press A as soon as the grab icon appears
- Release R when you want to end the superslide. You don't need to keep holding Z
Notes
This document is another good resource for learning how to do a superslide, but is mostly redundant in combination with this page.
Letting go of R, shielding damage, taking damage, going off an edge, grabbing a ledge and hitting a loading zone all cancel the superslide.
If you superslide off of a grabbable object and it's still there after you let go of R, the object will appear in your hands.
You can perform an Extended Superslide after you let go of R after any Superslide.
