Air Climbing

Using the rooster, it's possible to trick the game into thinking Link is still on a ladder, allowing you to climb upwards into the air. This is useful for getting on top of ledges, trees, and other out of bounds areas.

1. Push the rooster to the very top of a ladder.
2. Climb down the ladder so that Link is holding onto it at the very top.
3. Use Roc's Feather to jump, then at the peak of the jump press up slightly so that Link lands on the very edge of the top of the ladder. At this stage, Link should look like he's standing in mid-air with the rooster just in front of him.
4. Grab the rooster and gently tap up. Link will slowly move up into the ladder, eventually grabbing it.
5. Once Link grabs the ladder, quickly press and hold up to begin climbing.

The timing of step 5 is somewhat strict. If you are too slow to press and hold up, Link will grab the top of the ladder and climb up like normal, and you'll have to try again. If you are too fast, Link will get stuck at the top of the ladder and you'll need to throw the rooster and try again.

Noclip

It's possible to get Link into a state where he is flying with the rooster without any ground collision, allowing you to pass through most ledges and some walls.

1. Push the rooster to the very top of a ladder.
2. Climb down the ladder so that Link is holding onto it at the very top.
3. Use Roc's Feather to jump, then at the peak of the jump press up slightly so that Link lands on the very edge of the top of the ladder. At this stage, Link should look like he's standing in mid-air with the rooster just in front of him.
4. Grab the rooster and move up, and then move left or right to clip through the corner of the ledge adjacent to the ladder.

From here, you'll need to make sure Link is touching a solid wall or else he'll be teleported back to the ladder. You have about 1.5 seconds of free air-time before this happens, which you can use to transfer between walls. If Link gets stuck at the top of the ladder, it means you weren't far back enough on the top of the ladder in step 3. Throw the rooster and try again.
